| 1° Day - Arrival Arrival in the afternoon. Check in. Welcome drink and hotel accommodation. (In case of arrival in the morning it will be possible to organize a visit with tasting in a local farm). 20.00 Dinner in hotel restaurant and overnight stay. 2° Day (Viterbo – Blera – Tarquinia – Viterbo) Breakfast 09.00 Departure to visit a Centre for Experimental Archeology in the province of Viterbo. The Centre for experimental archeology, committed in divulgation and propagation of new archeological discoveries, through researches, trials and investigations, proposes a “journey into the time” to everyone visiting the suggestive countryside of the province of Viterbo. Characterized by a series of reproductions of prehistoric dwellings, divided into thematic areas, aims to offer to the visitor the opportunity to live firsthand, without special effects, daily activities from prehistoric period to Middle Age: casting of metals, manufacture of ceramics, ancient cosmetics and Etruscan and Roman cuisine. “The attempt to reproduce, through experiments and conditions similar to the authentic, objects and things and subsequent circumstances in which objects and things had suffered degradation and destruction” (Archeology Experiment-John Coles) 13.00 Lunch. It will be organized a typical lunch into the Centre. 15.30 Departure to Tarquinia. Guided tour to the National Archeological Etruscan Museum, famous for variety of its finds, and to the Necropolis, an extraordinary series of tombs, including 200 painted, which represent the most important exemplar in Mediterranean sea. 19.00 Back to the hotel. 20.00 Dinner in the hotel and overnight stay. 3° Day (Viterbo – Vulci – Lake Mezzano – Vulci) Breakfast 09.00 Departure to Vulci: Guided tour to Naturalistic and Archeological Park of Vulci, a meeting between the pristine landscape of the Maremma and impressive archeological remains of one of the most important city-state of ancient Etruria. 12.30 Departure to a farm on Mezzano lake 13.00 Lunch and tasting of typical dishes. During lunch an expert shepherd will show how to make cheese, starting from milk, through the primary stages of the process and tasting curd and hot ricotta. 15.30 Excursion on Mezzano lake. A guide will explain the ancient volcanic origins of this lake situated inside Lamone’s reserve, rich in animals and plants. The excursion will continue toward the ancient “path of the bandits”. 18.00 Back to the hotel 20.00 Dinner and overnight stay 4° Day (Viterbo – Civita di bagnoregio – Orvieto – Viterbo) Breakfast 09.00 Departure to the picturesque village of Civita di Bagnoregio, called by the poets “Dying town” because of slow landslide of tufa walls of the hill on which it stands, rich in culture and traditions that jealously guards as a casket, immersed in a fabulous setting of Calanchi mountains. 09.45 Start of excursion: a hiking guide will drive the guests along the slopes of Calanchi, typical morphologies of the ground, present on the hillside surrounding Civita, caused by erosion of water; the journey will continue into the ancient village, where at 1.00 p.m. will be organized a lunch in a typical “bruschetteria” . 15.00 Departure to Orvieto, Etruscan town rich in art, history and culture. In the centre of the ancient town there is Duomo square, where is situated the imposing cathedral , whose wonderful façade, carved like a miniature, glows with colored marble and mosaics, drawing attention to the purity of its lines. 18.30 Back to the hotel 20.00 Dinner and overnight stay 5° Day (Viterbo – Montefiascone – Lake Bolsena – Viterbo) Breakfast 09.00 Departure to Montefiascone. Guided tour of the town located on the top of the hill on the side of the crater of Bolsena lake. From this privileged position you’ll have vision of a unique landscape. Arose in the Middle Age, it entered the domains of the Church in VIII century, and became an important centre; to witness this think there is the cathedral of S Margherita, whose dome is second in size only to that of S Peter, Rocca dei Papi, the church of S Flaviano and of S Andrea. 12.00 Guided tour of a wine producing farm: wineyards, wine making places and cellars where are stored the wines presented during the tasting. At the end of the visit, into the cellar, it’ll be served a lunch during which an exponent of the farm will tell about the wines tried during tasting. 16.00 Excursion with boat on Bolsena lake: Bisentina isle, Martana isle, the town of Marta and Capodimonte, during navigation will be given an explanation of these places. The dinner will be organized in a fishers village; the restaurant, overlooking the lake, will prepare a fish menu cooked with the traditional recipes of the place. 22.30 Back to the hotel and overnight stay. 6° Day (Viterbo – bagnaia – Viterbo) Breakfast 09.00 Departure to Bagnaia Guided tour to Villa Lante, precious example of sixteenth century architecture, with graceful fountains, decorated pools, water falls, water games which start up from evergreen hedges and statues of peperino. 12.30 Back for lunch in Viterbo in a characteristic restaurant. 15.00 Guided tour in the historical centre of Viterbo. “a trip in Middle Age” Guided tour in San Pellegrino, the most characteristic and well preserved medieval quarter in Italy, and Palace of the Popes, in medieval gothic style, characterized by a loggia, with seven ogive arches, was papal residence during almost all the Trecento. 18.30 Back to the hotel 20.00 Dinner and overnight stay 7° Day - Departure Breakfast Departure and end of our services.
